Liverpool are moving closer to the Premier League Title

The latest round of English Premier League football matches appears to be erring forward in favour of Liverpool being crowned champions for the second time in their history.

Following a shock at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal lost to a Jared Bowen goal, in the London derby against West Ham, and Arne Slot’s Liverpool marched on as they beat current champions, Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, 2-0. Newcastle also beat third place Nottm Forest in an exciting seven-goal thriller.

There are still some exciting Premier League matches to watch from now until the end of the season in May.

Liverpool are heading to the Premier League title for two reasons. They are playing exceptionally well, while those chasing their lead are falling away and failing to make up any ground. Realistically, Arsenal and Nottm Forest are the only other teams in the race now but neither are consistent enough to worry Liverpool.

This will be some achievement for Arne Slot in his first season as manager of an English team, following the resignation of Jürgen Klopp.

Jürgen Norbert Klopp announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the beginning of 2024. He arrived in October 2015 after seven successful years with Borussia Dortmund.

As Liverpool manager he guided the club to three Champions League finals, their first Premier League title in the 2019/20 season and won the Champions League in 2018/19. If it wasn’t for Manchester City’s dominance domestically, and Real Madrid’s in Europe, Klopp could’ve won much more.

Under Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool also won the FA Cup in 2021–22 and the Football League Cup/EFL Cup: 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons.

Jürgen Klopp’s popularity and successful boots are going to be hard to follow, but Arne Slot is definitely on the right path.
